1. Finish quality and sanding motion
The EQI-Plus and 2-M use random-orbit motion. Festool positions both for refined Q3/Q4 surface quality. They are the better starting point when smoothness under critical lighting is the main goal. The two PLANEX easy listings use rotational motion for standard sanding of drywall compound on walls and ceilings. Abrasive choice and technique still matter whichever machine you use.
2. Seeing defects before painting
Only the LHS 2 225 EQI-Plus in this four-model comparison has an integrated all-around LED light ring. It acts as a raking light to reveal ridges and uneven spots while sanding.
